Cristina Lord (b. 1991) is a southern-California based composer, pianist, and educator. She is particularly interested in collaborating with other art mediums such as dance, film, visual art, text, and theater, and in the intersection between classical music and popular culture. Her work has been performed internationally and across the United States. She has written for organizations and ensembles including Experiments in Opera, Gnarwhallaby, Friction Quartet, HOCKET, Veda Quartet, Southern California Brass Consortium, the Long Beach Laptop Collective, and New Century Voices. While primarily a composer of concert works, Cristina also creates ambient and alternative electronic music as a solo artist.
Cristina received a Master’s Degree in Composition from California State University, Long Beach, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Composition from University of California, Santa Barbara. She currently assists for the new-music concert series Tuesdays at Monk Space and Piano Spheres, writes for New Classic LA, and teaches music classes as well as private lessons in piano, theory, and composition.
Besides her interests in music, Cristina enjoys tea, traveling, discussing Myer-Briggs, and petting any and all dogs with unavoidable heart-melt.
